Andrew James
Andrew was born in 1969 and brought up in East Sussex. Now living in Kent, Andrew is an entirely self-taught artist and has been
painting for nearly 30 years. Much of this time has been based around the discipline of portraiture and a pursuit of the character, spirit and essence of his subjects in oil paint.
Elected a member of both the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and New English Art Club, Andrew has enjoyed much success, winning prizes at national level as well as gaining notable private and public commissions. He has had exposure on BBC TV, produced DVDs upon the subject of portraiture and written a book on the theme of self-portraiture. As a tutor for over ten years Andrew has worked both in the UK and abroad privately, as well as in London Colleges, including the Royal Academy.
